Award-Winning Development Targets Active Lifestyle with Key Amenities and Natural Appeal

Epoque Golden Apartment Community is a luxury development nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Golden, Colo. Lawrence Group provided architectural design services for the multifamily project to appeal to vibrant, healthy 55+ residents who want to lead an active lifestyle centered on wellness and one-of-a-kind experiences. These special design elements and targeted amenities were key components to Epoque Golden being named Best 55+ Multifamily Development by the 2020 Multifamily Pillars of the Industry Awards program.

“Lawrence Group is truly honored to receive this award and showcase Epoque Golden on a national level,” said project architect Angie Eslinger, NCARB, LEED AP. “The owner, design team and contractor worked tirelessly to ensure the end product met the client’s vision.”

With the property’s location and target resident in mind, Epoque Golden was designed to combine modern luxury and nature into one cohesive community. Views of the Front Range and Table Mountain are central to the design. Each apartment features nearly floor-to-ceiling glass in the main living space, as well as oversized bedroom windows, to capture the area’s natural beauty. All but five of the 120 apartments have balconies or patios that enhance residents’ views of the surrounding area and connection to the outdoor environment. Lawrence Group combined slider door and full-height, fixed-panel windows to maximize the amount of glass in the living room. The bedrooms feature large, fixed-panel-over-awning windows, sized to address natural ventilation requirements.

Epoque residents are looking to eliminate the burden of home and yard maintenance while living a luxury lifestyle. Interior design and housekeeping services remove the stress of home upkeep while personal services such as dry cleaning, grocery and meal delivery, and secure package storage provide added convenience. The fully equipped fitness center, outdoor meditation deck and yoga studio eliminate the need for a gym membership, with complimentary fitness classes and services such as massage and personal training to keep residents active. Epoque also offers dog walking, training, grooming and pet sitting services.

“I was blown away by the textures and details of this project,” noted one Pillars judge. “The units are very high end, with attention to detail and functionality. The services, activities, and amenities were all way above average. The whole package was very cohesive to my eye.”

Unique service offerings at Epoque include complimentary adventure tours and excursions into the foothills on hikes, rafting and camping trips. The community’s black car service offers seamless travel to downtown Golden. If residents choose to use their own vehicles, they can store them in the secure parking garage and schedule on-site car washing services with full detailing. Residents may also participate in organized social, wellness and education events, including whiskey and wine tasting, cooking demonstrations and visits from local food trucks. There are also social clubs for the avid reader, the film critic or gardener.
