CDC Extends Eviction Moratorium Through March 31
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has announced it is extending the current order temporarily halting residential evictions until at least March 31, 2021.
In a press release announcing the action, CDC Director Rochelle Walensky said: “As a protective public health measure, I will extend the current order temporarily halting residential evictions until at least March 31, 2021. The COVID-19 pandemic has presented a historic threat to our nation’s health. It has also triggered a housing affordability crisis that disproportionately affects some communities.
“Despite extensive mitigation efforts, COVID-19 continues to spread in America at a concerning pace. We must act to get cases down and keep people in their homes and out of congregate settings — like shelters — where COVID-19 can take an even stronger foothold.”

Where is the landlord relief?
President Biden’s economic relief plan includes additional rental assistance. You can learn more here.
The relief was funded in the December bill but I have seen no information on how to apply or access it.
Tenants are living in houses for free due to government edict but the landlords are having to continue to pay the mortgages ,taxes, insurance, etc.
How is this not a government Taking of property (lost rents) without compensation?
John, if you are a property owner/landlord and have a question about the program, you can submit this form for a member of NAHB staff to assist you: https://www.nahb.org/other/forms/open/Feedback-on-Federal-Rental-Assistance-Program.
