Will You Be in the Spike VIP Area at Next Year’s IBS?

NAHB membership has many benefits — including rewards for welcoming new members into the Federation. This past year’s outstanding Spikes enjoyed access to a VIP area at the 2019 IBS Closing Concert featuring the Goo Goo Dolls. Only those Spikes who recruited at least five new Builder or Associate members during 2018 qualified to RSVP.

Those Spikes watched the concert from an exclusive area next to the stage, which included an open bar and food.

Maria Coutts, president of Pennsylvania Builders Association and a member of Wayne Pike Builders Association, said viewing the concert in the VIP section was superior to viewing it in the general audience, as she had in prior years.

“We had a great view of the stage and the sound was great,” Coutts said. “We’ve tried to get close to the stage in prior years, but it was really crowded. We had a lot better time in the VIP area.”

The VIP area’s food and beverage service improved Coutts’ experience as well. “The service was great, and the lines were short.”

Eric Person, CEO of the Home Builders and Remodelers Association of Central Connecticut, watched the concert from the VIP area with three of his HBA’s best recruiters, and said that he thinks the VIP area will motivate Spikes who didn’t recruit five new members in 2018 to step up their recruiting in 2019.

“It was a neat addition to an event they consistently enjoy,” Person said. “Members who didn’t have access to the VIP area saw it and wanted in. The VIP area will have even more impact going forward.”

Make sure you’re getting VIP treatment and rewards at future events by participating in this year’s national membership drives, kicking off soon. HBAs and members can register and access 2019 recruitment resources on nahb.org.

HBA staff members are invited to share their recruitment and retention experiences at NAHB’s Third Tuesday Townhalls. The next townhall will take place April 16 at 2 p.m. ET and focus on best practices in managing a membership drive. Register today.
