Alexandria, Va. Mayor Allison Silberberg recently participated in a very special ribbon-cutting ceremony, celebrating the completion of a newly renovated apartment building that provides affordable and transitional housing for homeless families.

HomeAid Northern Virginia, a charitable partner of the Northern Virginia BIA, renovated the property for Community Lodgings with the donated expertise, labor and resources of four local home builders: Brookfield ResidentialEvergreene HomesM/I Homes and Richmond American Homes.

Located in Alexandria’s popular Del Ray neighborhood, the property features seven apartments and an onsite learning center for youth programs.

The renovations, valued at more than $650,000, included a complete upgrade of the property’s six original affordable housing units, as well as a reconfiguration to maximize space efficiency and create a seventh two-bedroom unit.

And through a special partnership with Staged Interior, a local home staging company, each of the units was furnished even before the new residents moved in.

More information is available on the HomeAid website.
