The NAHB Construction Safety & Health Committee on Monday honored Rob Matuga, assistance vice president of NAHB Labor, Safety and Health, with the Leadership in Construction Safety award. Matuga was presented with the award at this year’s NAHB/Builders Mutual Safety Award for Excellence reception. This marks the first time the committee has bestowed the prestigious honor upon an NAHB staff member.

Past recipients of the Leadership in Construction Safety award, and NAHB Senior Officer Randy Noel, congratulate Rob Matuga, assistant vice president of NAHB Labor, Safety and Health.

Matuga, who recently celebrated his 15th year of service at the association, was recognized for demonstrating outstanding vision, leadership and commitment toward improving construction safety in the home building industry.

“I can’t say enough good things about Rob and the work he has done to advance safety in home building industry,” said NAHB Construction Safety & Health Committee Chair Don Pratt. “We are incredibly thankful for his tireless efforts, and proud to have him on our team.”

In his role at NAHB, Matuga has provided steadfast support and  expertise in developing numerous safety training programs and materials. He has also been a staunch advocate for legislative and regularly measures and standards that are fair, feasible, practical and valuable for the home building industry.

“This was the best way to publicly acknowledge how much we appreciate Rob’s passion and dedication to construction safety in the home building industry,” said SAFE award judge Michael Thibodeaux, vice president of risk assessment consulting firm MKPA. “We couldn’t be more thankful for all that he’s done.”
