Award Winners and Honorees Announced Today at IBS

NAHB today announced the winners of its Best in Green and Associate awards.

The Best in Green awards are chosen from many of NAHB’s other honors, including the Best in American Living Awards, Best of 55+ Housing Awards, Pillars of the Industry and Jerry Rouleau Awards for Excellence in systems building. This year’s winners included:

  • Best in Green Single-Family Production Home: The Kingfisher, Schell Brothers Construction, Middletown, Del.
  • Best in Green Single-Family Custom Home: Lotus on Orange, Josh Wynne Construction, Sarasota, Fla.
  • Best in Green Multifamily Project: 888 San Mateo, Sares Regis Group of Northern California, San Mateo, Calif.
  • Best in Green Development: New Rainier Vista, Dwell Development, Seattle, Wash.
  • Best in Green System-Built Home: Old Faithful Employee Housing, Guerdon Modular Buildings, Old Faithful Village of Yellowstone National Park, Wyo.
  • Best in Green Young Professional of the Year: Karen Benner, director of architecture for The Neighborhoods of EYA, Bethesda, Md.

Also today, three longtime NAHB members were honored by the NAHB Associates Committee for their professionalism, political engagement, volunteer activities and service to the industry. These awards included:

BEAM award: The Builders Engaging Associate Members (BEAM) award went to Doreen “Dodie” Adams of Integrity Builders in Mandeville, La. The BEAM award is given to a Builder member who values doing business with Associates: trade partners, suppliers and service providers who are also members of the NAHB federation. Approximately 95% of Adams’ subcontractors are Associate members, and she promotes their involvement in the local, state and national levels.

Bill Polley Advocate: Jerry Cowan of Builders Mutual Insurance Co. in Greensboro, N.C., was honored as the Bill Polley Advocate of NAHB’s national political action committee, BUILD-PAC. This award is given to an Associate member who advocates for BUILD-PAC on the local, state and national levels. Winners are recognized for their energy, enthusiasm and ability to recruit contributors to help build up the PAC’s resources.

Associate of the Year: Tony Bosco of Quality Windows and Doors LLC in Freeland, Mich., was named NAHB’s Associate of the Year. This award recognizes Associate members who have distinguished themselves by their contributions to the home building industry on the local, state and national level.
