The Building Industry Charitable Foundation of the BIA of Central South Carolina presented a $10,000 check to the United Way of Sumter, Clarendon and Lee Counties Flood Relief Fund Nov. 2 after a golf tournament to raise money for flood relief efforts.

October brought historic — and devastating — flooding to the state, inundating homes and businesses and resulting in the death of at least 19 people, according to news reports.

The BIA includes more than 800 members from Clarendon, Fairfield, Kershaw, Lexington, Newberry, Richland and Sumter counties. The Building Industry Charitable Foundation Inc. is a South Carolina nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization.
