Lot Values Hit Record Highs

Median single-family lot prices in 2018 outpaced inflation (4.4% vs 2.4%) and reached a new record high, with half of the lots selling at or above $49,500, according to NAHB’s analysis of the Census Bureau’s Survey of Construction (SOC) data.

Not a Lot of Lots, Builders Report

In a recent NAHB survey, 65% of builders reported that the overall supply of developed lots in their areas was low to very low. This is up only 1% from June 2017, but significantly higher than the 42% posted in September 2012.
