Led by its Professional Women in Building Council, members of the HBA of Greater New Orleans are teaming up with a local Girl Scouts of America troop to restore and remodel a dilapidated cabin. Once they’re finished, the troop will use the cabin for its education programs with a particular focus on STEM-related projects (for science, technology, engineering and math).

When the PWB Council’s first president, Hope Bettilyon, created the original PWB scholarship in 1955, her goal was simple: Collect $1 from each member to begin the tradition of an annual $1,000 scholarship. Today, the PWB’s Building Hope Scholarships are awarded annually to state and local PWB chapters that participate in the council’s annual award programs and membership competitions.
