Construction is progressing swiftly on The New American Home 2021, the official show home of The NAHB International Builders' Show® (IBS). And there is growing anticipation for its unveiling, which will show builders and consumers the latest designs and features centered around urban living.

"The home has been a fun project to work on because it's different than what we normally do," said Katie Kovac, construction coordinator for Phil Kean Design Group. "It's more about urban living, being located in downtown Winter Park, so it's exciting to learn about new products in residential construction and incorporate innovative features that enhance the amenities of a home like this."

As the project moves into the rough-in stage, the build team is cautiously optimistic about the timeline — having experienced no major hiccups thus far, but knowing delays are always a possibility, especially as markets and suppliers adjust in the coronavirus era.

"Our biggest challenge will be making sure that we receive all of the products we need when we need them onsite so that we can stay on schedule," Kovac said.

The home is expected to be completed in mid-fall 2020 — well in advance of its official debut, which will take place in conjunction with the 2021 IBS Feb. 9-11.
