NAHB Builders Discuss Nation’s Affordability Crisis at Congressional Panel

A focus on housing affordability – NAHB Chairman Greg Ugalde (left photo, far right) and Utah builder Chris Gamvroulas (right photo, center) participated in a June 5 forum on affordable housing held by the New Democrat Coalition. The event centered on solutions to meet the nation’s housing shortfall. Speaking from the builder perspective, Ugalde and Gamvroulas focused on several factors accounting for the affordability crisis, including excessive regulations, a shortage of skilled labor, a lack of buildable lots, tariffs that are raising the cost of building materials, and financing.
