construction workersGet an early, educational start on your 2019 NAHB International Builders’ Show® (IBS) experience with four popular, half-day courses from Home Builders Institute (HBI), a national nonprofit that provides building industry technical education, career development and training.

Each course covers issues and subjects identified by NAHB members as critical to a field or site supervisory job. You can begin the process of earning your Advanced Residential Construction Superintendent (ARCS) designation at IBS. ARCS designation courses are taught by HBI-approved instructors and industry leaders.

These pre-show courses take place Feb. 16-18. You’ll also receive a free expo pass with registration. Classes include:

  • Building It Right: Quality Construction
Develop building best practices by identifying the stakeholders of a construction project and the performance expectations needed for each group to ensure product quality.
  • Taking the Guesswork Out of the Schedule
Scheduling is critical to delivering a quality home as promised. Identify the components of an effective schedule, the benefits of creating baselines and how the schedule works with the budget and other construction documents.
  • Winning the Time Game
Superintendents will develop skills to increase personal efficiency and productivity by balancing what is urgent with what is important, time-saving tips and practical tips for dealing with timewasters and interruptions.
  • Coaching: Creating Standards of Excellence
As a leader, develop and improve your coaching skills to motivate and provide support to achieve top performance. (Bring a real-life coaching opportunity so you can learn skills to help an employee or colleague when they return from IBS.)

You must register separately for pre-show courses, which require an additional fee. If you are attending IBS, pre-show courses can be added during the IBS registration process. If you are not attending IBS, you can register online in advance for courses only.
