ramp for the wheelchair and stairs We know about aging-in-place and universal design, but what about “visitability?” Essentially, visitability refers to design that allows any residents or visitors to get into a home and move within it easily.

Visitability begins outside with the sidewalks, driveways, porches, entry doors and lighting. The webinar Visitability Design Starts at the Curb, 2-3 p.m. ET on Wednesday, July 18, will focus on getting people to your front door and to get in the home without a problem.

Led by Steve Hoffacker, CAPS, participants in this webinar will also learn how universal design is closely aligned with visitability and appreciate that visitability applies to everyone who uses the property, including the occupants.

This webinar is free for CAPS designation holders. Log in to nahb.org with your regular username and password, and the webinar price will be “$0” when added to your cart.

Registration is open until 3 p.m. ET (12 p.m. PT) on Tuesday, July 17. For questions about registration, please contact Sheila Coble at EdWebinars@nahb.org, or call her at 800-368-5242 x8057.
