Even Membership is Bigger in Texas

texas flagWant to see an incredible bottom line? Look at the results from the Texas Association of Builders (TAB), where 20 local associations conducted a “friendly” (read: no holds barred) membership recruitment competition this month.

The result: TAB gained 1,152 new members in just one week, a 17% increase over its 2017 totals.

Among the standouts:

El Paso Vice President Sergio Cuartas served as a recruitment team captain, cajoling and wheedling his teammates as he worked the phones. “He was energetic, high-fived his team and gave praise each time they were able to add a new member,” said Justin Reyes, an NAHB Field Representative.

After grad school and a stint in the military, Cuartas, who was born in Columbia, joined the association soon after starting BIC Homes LLC in 2004.

“For me, as a builder, I think that the relationships that you create are one of the biggest benefits of membership,” Cuartas said. And the industry benefits as well, he added. “When we have more Builder members and when we have more Associate members, those numbers give us more political power.”

“I am extremely proud of the efforts of all our Builder and Associate members here in Texas during the Spring Recruitment Drive,” said TAB President T. Justin MacDonald.

“But it won’t stop here. I challenge every state to meet or exceed these goals. We all have a story to tell about how our membership has strengthened our business – whether it’s from the networking and leads, the education or the advocacy. We need to tell those stories – because when we represent more members of this great industry, we can accomplish even more.”
