Jerry KonterThe NAHB Nominations Committee has certified one candidate for 2019 Third Vice Chairman: Jerry Konter of Savannah, Ga., who is a member of the Home Builders Association of Greater Savannah. Konter will address the NAHB Board of Directors at the Midyear Board meeting in Portland, Ore. Here is his statement.

I’m Jerry Konter, and I’m running for the office of NAHB Third Vice Chairman for 2019. In 1977, I started a small building company in Savannah, Georgia with a concentration on developing affordable lots and building entry-level homes. Shortly after starting my company, I joined my local home builders association and found it an invaluable resource for growing my business. Over the years as my business grew, so did my involvement in my local and state home builders associations.  After serving on almost every committee and all senior officer positions at that level, I became more involved at the national level.

I seek this position because my personal experience has taught me that there is no substitute for a strong national association. I have had the opportunity to serve NAHB as the chairman of State and Local Government Affairs, Convention and Meetings, Land Development and Federal Government Affairs committees, as the state representative for Georgia, twice as a National Area Chairman, and as a BUILD-PAC Trustee.  I have interacted with a broad segment of our staff and have a strong understanding of how NAHB operates. This experience has prepared me to be an effective Senior Officer.

My wife Marcy and son Mark are principals in our company and work alongside a highly skilled staff.  This team provides me the opportunity to give back to an industry that has given our family so much.

I’m ready, and ask for your support and vote at the International Builders’ Show in February 2019.

I have known Jerry for over ten years and worked with him in many different positions at our NAHB. I couldn’t ask for a better man to represent our federation and fully support his run to serve as one of our senior officers.
