2018 NAHB PWB Chair Judy Dinelle

Judy Dinelle, CGP, CAPS, AMA of Asheville, N.C., views her new role as the 2018 chair of the NAHB Professional Women in Building Council (PWB) with both excitement and a laser-sharp focus.

While her main emphasis will be membership recruitment and retention, Dinelle also has a passion for introducing students to home building as a career.

“We’re going to be out there and be the boots on the ground,” she said. “We’ve got to get into schools and educate teachers, guidance counselors and parents that trades are a lucrative business. If we can do that, we can make a lot of progress to making the trades more valuable than they are now.”

Dinelle, building ambassador for 84 Lumber, was installed as the new PWB chair during the International Builders’ Show in Orlando. As chair, she represents more than 13,700 female members of NAHB involved in the residential construction industry.

With nearly 40 years of experience in the building industry, Dinelle has been involved in all three levels of the NAHB Federation. Locally, she’s chaired Gold Key, Table Top, BUILD-PAC, and Legislative committees.

Within PWB, Dinelle was a charter member of the Asheville HBA PWB and has been its vice chair and chair. For her state HBA, she worked her way up through PWB leadership positions, serving as treasurer, secretary, vice chair and chair.

Dinelle welcomes the opportunity to visit HBAs with local PWB councils or HBAs interested in starting one. To request a visit, contact NAHB PWB Executive Director Sheronda Carr.
