Announcing NAHB’s SAFE Award Winners

NAHB has named the recipients of the 12th annual NAHB/Builders Mutual Insurance Company Safety Award for Excellence (SAFE) for their commitment to strong safety programs.

This year’s SAFE program honors the following individuals and companies that have worked to achieve exemplary safety and health programs in the residential construction industry.

NAHB Safety Champion of the Year:
Jason Harris of TRI Pointe Homes in Denver

Remodeler Safety Program of the Year – Less than 50 employees:
Tenhulzen Residential, LLC in Bellevue, Wash.

Remodeler Safety Program of the Year – More than 50 employees:
Neil Kelly Company in Portland, Ore.

Single-Family Builders Safety Program of the Year:
Sea-Dar Construction (Less than 10 homes built per year) in Boston
Sandcastle Homes (11 to 100 homes built per year) in Houston, Texas
David Weekley Homes (More than 500 homes built per year) in Houston, Texas

Specialty Trade Contractor Safety Program of the Year – Less than 50 employees:
Quality Waterproofing in Valley Park, Mo.

Specialty Trade Contractor Safety Program of the Year – More than 50 employees:
Kimbel Mechanical Systems, Inc. in Fayetteville, Ark.
Environmental Stoneworks in Centennial, Colo.

Innovative Safety Program/Idea of the Year:
Southern California Builders Safety Alliance in Irvine, Calif.

Associate Member Safety Program of the Year:
Safety Consulting & Compliance Corp. in Hauppauge, N.Y.

Leadership in Construction Safety Award:
Carl Harris of Carl Harris Co., Inc., in Wichita, Kan.

“These excellent builders and remodelers unapologetically enforce safety procedures so that everyone walks off the worksite and gets home without injury,” said David Miller, chairman of the NAHB Construction Safety and Health Committee and a multifamily developer from Lubbock, Texas. “I commend these honorees for taking pride in worksite safety and integrating it as a critical component of their business success.”
