The difference between builders who have “it” and those who don’t is not always obvious.

Being honored with a prestigious national award is perhaps the most effective method of validating quality work and differentiating the first-class companies from the competition.

Applications are now being accepted for NAHB’s Custom Home Builder of the Year Award recognizing the professional achievements of a builder who exhibits exemplary customer service, leadership skills and creativity in crafting one-of-a-kind homes.

Those who have received this recognition in previous years know just how impactful the award can be.

“It was so gratifying to begin the New Year with such an honor and to share it with all of my family and industry partners who share our vision of excellence,” said the 2016 recipient, Luis Jauregui, owner of Jauregui Architecture Interiors Construction in Austin, Texas.

“As an entrepreneurial design-build company, we strive to elevate building practices,” he said. “And I encourage all custom home builders to aim high and enjoy the ride!”

Also, members under age 40 should consider a new award category, the One to Watch, honoring an up-and-coming custom home builder for his or her innovation and involvement in the home building industry.

Winners will be honored during the 2018 International Builders’ Show in Orlando on Tuesday, Jan. 9.
