NAHB Mourns Passing of John R. Giaquinto

John R. Giaquinto, 94, a longtime leader in the New Jersey HBA, BUILD-PAC and NAHB, died June 9.

An Edison, New Jersey resident most of his life, Mr. Giaquinto and his brother James started Giaquinto Brothers Construction in 1960, building single-family homes, apartment buildings and condominiums throughout Middlesex County.

An active NAHB member until his passing, he was voted 1969 Builder of the Year by the Raritan Valley Builders Association and served as the state president in 1968.

Mr. Giaquinto was in the Army Air Corps and was a gunner on the A20 and B25 airplanes during World War II. He was also a longtime member in the Metuchen Country Club, where he was Club Champ in 1975.

John is predeceased by his siblings James, Florence and Rose. Surviving are his wife Mary, his sons John and Richard, three siblings: Violet, Ben and Marianne, and many grandchildren.

Visitation is Monday at 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., and the funeral takes place at 8:30 a.m. June 13 at Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Ave. Metuchen, New Jersey. It will be followed by a 9 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Francis Cathedral, Metuchen, where Mr. Giaquinto was a longtime parishioner. Entombment is in Resurrection Burial Park, Piscataway.
