Volunteers provide landscaping improvements as part of a day-long effort making home repairs for an elderly local resident.

Volunteers from the Home Builders Association of Greater New Orleans and local community members assembled this week to assist a very appreciative local resident whose home was in need of repairs.

The 86-year-old widower, who has lived in his home in Jefferson Parish in Louisiana for 30 years, had been cited for damaged gutters.

A local charitable program in affiliation with the local HBA and Parade of Homes helped fix his gutters, as well as other home repairs and landscaping in a day-long volunteer effort. The program aims to assist those who may not have the means of carrying out local code citations for needed minor home repairs.
