March is National Designation Month, a time to recognize designee achievements, promote ongoing education in the housing industry and educate the public on the value of professionals with NAHB designations.
That means it’s time to get ready: Whether you are a designee or an HBA with designees as members, here are some ways to get the word out about designations in March and beyond:
Spread the word. NAHB has press releases, logos, banner ads and many other resources to help you tell your community and the media all the wonderful things you have accomplished. Visit nahb.org/promoteyourdesignation for more tips.
Take advantage of social media. “Putting your designations on your LinkedIn profile is a must and one of the simplest things you can do,” says Meredith Oliver, CSP and 2016 Master in Residential Marketing (MIRM) Designee of the Year. Post and tweet other learning milestones, such as taking an NAHB course or enjoying an education session at the NAHB International Builders’ Show.
Honor the designees at a meeting or party, or invite them to speak at a course or other events. And have you checked out the 2016 Designees of the Year? These individuals embody NAHB ideals and are leading professionals in their fields.
Feature designees on your HBA website and at your home show.
Offer discounts to new members who take their first course as a way to introduce them to the designations.
Put our Lowe’s partnership to work. Lowe’s is NAHB Education’s exclusive sponsor: Invite the local Lowe’s manager to a membership meeting to discuss education.
As the housing market improves, baby boomers retire and green building grows, designations give housing professionals the special skills and industry knowledge clients want.
