NAHB Chairman Ed Brady issued the following statement this evening on President-elect Trump’s nomination of Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt as the next administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA):

“NAHB commends President-elect Trump’s selection of Scott Pruitt to lead the EPA. NAHB believes in environmental regulations that truly protect the environment. However, EPA has taken on an increasingly activist agenda during the Obama Administratiion, often issuing regulations based on political considerations and failing to go through the proposed rulemaking process, as illustrated by its ‘waters of the U.S.’ rule.

“Scott Pruitt will restore common sense to the regulatory process by ensuring that federal regulations are based on sound science, do not trample states’ rights and address the economic impact they have on small businesses.

“NAHB fully supports the confirmation of Scott Pruitt as the nation’s next EPA administrator.”

I am saddened by your remarks regarding the appointment of the new EPA director by Trump. This appointment will do nothing but push regressive policies by the EPA and undo substantial progress in fighting the self serving interests of big money and “pollution for profit” companies. What we do in the Green Housing sector can be undone by this level of “pocket book” appointments.
