Rep. Kurt Schrader (D-Ore.) was honored as an NAHB Defender of Housing for his work on behalf of home builders and home owners.

“Rep. Schrader has been a tireless supporter of the home building industry, championing NAHB’s positions on important regulatory issues such as the new overtime rules, energy codes and the definition of waters of the United States,” said Oregon HBA CEO Jon Chandler. “We thank him for his steadfast support and look forward to working with him during the 115th Congress.”

The NAHB Defender of Housing Award recognizes courageous federal legislators who have demonstrated strong support for housing and NAHB positions on key issues facing the industry. The award, fashioned in the likeness of a traditional house key, is awarded biannually.
