CAPS students in Oklahoma are all smiles.

Often it’s important to know why to build something, not just how.

That’s certainly true among remodelers and others who take the three-day Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS) course, which not only opens the doors for professionals to enter this growing niche but also opens eyes.

“Builders know all the functional aspects – how do I build a grab bar that is safe and attractive – but it’s communicating graciously with people and talking in their interests and lingo,” says Jack Werner, a longtime CAPS instructor. “It’s communications. It’s marketing. It’s construction. It’s where to get all the information about how to build it beautifully and safely.”

Read this Oklahoma State Home Builders Association blog post, and you’ll see why.
