BIA_logoThe Building Industry Association of Central South Carolina helped make graduation a little sweeter for 29 high school seniors preparing to continue their education this fall.

The group’s Building Industry Charitable Foundation awarded $42,250 in scholarships to 29 high school seniors accepted by or currently enrolled in a junior college, technical college or four-year college or university in South Carolina.

BIA Executive Director Earl McLeod understands the importance of these scholarships to the students receiving them. “The opportunity to get to know and help the children of our members and those young people pursuing a construction-related education is one of the greatest honors of my job.”

Over the past 14 years, the foundation has awarded more than $400,000 in scholarships to children of association members and other students who meet the program criteria.  The scholarship program is funded by annual events, including the BIA Golf Classic, and through private contributions.

“We are pleased to help build a better community by offering scholarships to some outstanding young people and help provide workers for our future, thanks to the generosity of our members,” said McLeod.
