Colors and Patterns and Shapes. Oh My!

Filed in Design, Housing Trends by on March 3, 2015 6 Comments

Marc Thee of Marc-Michaels Interior Design, who recently spoke at the 2015 International Builders’ Show, says that a home should reflect youth, security, health, beauty and grace.  With constantly shifting consumer attitudes, it can be difficult to pinpoint which designs and styles best translate into these ideals for home buyers.

But the answer seems simple.

“That ‘gotta have it’ feeling or emotional response is the No. 1 sign you’ve nail a trend,” Thee said, adding that homes that bear the qualities of a trend often see their value stand the test of time.

These photos highlight some of the newest styles in interior and exterior design. Thee says that time will tell whether they become long-standing trends or not — but for now they are certainly capturing the hearts and attention of new home buyers.

Awesome posting. Limited text with great photography illustrating the trends with bullet points.

  2. Love the trim work in the bedroom design by Spinnaker Development!

  3. Love to see Indiana builder, Christopher Scott Homes, featured here. Stunning bath design!

  4. Lot of windows and doors with large divided lights gives an open feel and make the space look huge. Nice. I would like to see more natural materials like wood and stone.

  5. So glad to see the ceilings addressed! Our builder, Bel Arbor Builders in Richmond Va has been doing this for several years.
