RedHousegraphicThe Federal Housing Administration (FHA) announced on Sept. 30 that it completed the first section of its Single Family Housing Policy Handbook, which is a key part of the agency’s efforts to help lenders expand access to housing credit.

“This milestone is one part of FHA’s effort to develop a comprehensive, single source of FHA Single Family Housing policy,” the agency said in a written statement.

FHA says that completion of the first section of the policy handbook supports its broader goals of “expanding access to mortgage credit and making it easier for stakeholders to do business with FHA.”

The first section covers origination through post-closing and endorsement policies that will become effective for FHA case numbers assigned on and after June 15, 2015.

FHA began developing the policy handbook last year and NAHB has been actively engaged in the process, working on its own and with industry coalition partners to provide feedback and guidance as the process moved forward.

You have rewarded lenders who take moderate home loan risks with penalties and sanctions. If you wish to expand loan lending and homeownership, fix this massive glitch in the system. Over protection results in under activity.
