HBAK members time the nail driving competition during career days.

Members of the Home Builders Association of Kentucky (HBAK) were among the volunteers welcoming 2,060 students from all over the state to the 10th annual Kentucky Construction Career Days at the  Shelby County Fairgrounds Sept. 23-24.

The event exposes high school students to jobs and careers in all aspects of the construction industry, including home building, and HBAK members have long been involved in planning and organizing the event.

The annual Career Days are sponsored by the Kentucky Construction Career Choice Council, or K4C, and this year included 65 exhibits from groups as diverse as road building companies, technical college construction management programs, tool manufacturers and even the International Code Council.

Exhibitors offer hands-on demonstrations and offer students the opportunity to build small projects, test out equipment, attend brief lectures and network with potential employers.

Volunteering with a high school or college NAHB Student Chapter is a great way to give back to the home building industry — and meet your next employees. Learn more by contacting Greg Zick at 800-368-5242 x8493.
