Hot Tap On Hand BasinHome Innovation Research Labs is looking for building owners, contractors, product manufacturers and others interested in the subject of plumbing fixtures to help develop a new professional qualifications standard for plumbing fixture replacement technicians.

Home Innovation will act as the secretariat and administrator of the standard development process. Once completed, the standard will be submitted to the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) for approval.

The committee’s task is to develop the technical requirements for the standard, so Home Innovation, as an ANSI-accredited standard developer, is seeking industry professionals with a specific interest in plumbing fixture replacement and related workforce qualifications. Applications must be submitted by Sept. 15.

Once chosen, the committee will hold two hearings in Washington, D.C., in late 2014 or early 2015 to review the working draft of the standard, propose and discuss needed changes and then take formal action.

Once the committee has completed its work, the Professional Qualifications Standard for Plumbing Fixture Replacement Technicians will be submitted to ANSI for approval in 2015.
